Corruption

Corruption

In my opinion the most imperative issue that needs to be addressed immediately is corruption. How can a country or the world solve other important issues when the leaders are corrupt? It is impossible. I believe the majority if not all other issues on this list stem from negligence and corruption. A classic example of this is George Bush’s reign in the United States of America. For example, his tax program benefits a tiny minority of wealthy Americans and for lack of a better word screws the American worker by supporting corporate welfare for companies who move their factories to the Third World Countries. He is also responsible for falsifying the threat of Iraq to the world and the ties between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda, for presiding over 152 executions as Governor of Texas and for the civilian deaths in the bombings of Afghanistan and Iraq. The ramifications from his actions have resulted in poverty, environmental destruction, conflict, nuclear weaponry, and so on. In addition, corruption has now left the United States of America: the most powerful country in the world in extreme debt. How will they provide monetary assistance or funding for the other issues on the list when they have been destroyed by corruption? This example of corruption in a democratic developed country; one cannot even conceive of the atrocities occurring in undeveloped countries with other forms of government.
