The AIC Simulation is essentially an online simulation where students portray a specific country and attempt to resolve the conflict peacefully. The simulation is run by a group of students at the University of Michigan.
I am apart of the Palistinian Liberation Group Hamas. Hamas is a very fascinating group because they are considered a terrorist group and engage and bombings. However, they also build schools and aid in their community. They feel like they've attempted peacefull negotiantions with Israeli but have recieved no success. They feel as though they must resort to violent means in order to be heard.
I portray Mahmoud al-Zahar foreign minister of Hamas. He is a hardliner, with a sincere hate for Israel. He has been the victim of an Israeli assassination attempt, which killed his son. He is a religous fanatic who is unwilling to compromise and would like the entire land mass to be Palestines.
I am hoping to obtain a better understanding of the AIC and what are the basis's for each country's claim for territtory. More specifcally I am interested in how the conflict will be resolved within the simulation, and to learn in general how conflicts of this caliber can be solved, there are striking similarities between all problems and if you know how to solve one, you will be well equipped to solve other problems in the future.
